Second series of Walk & Talk podcast launched
The Lunchtime Walk & Talk podcast sees John Hamilton in conversation with experts from across the fields of health, wellbeing, sport and recreation.
The first episode of the second series focuses on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer (LGBTQ) issues as part of Leeds Beckett’s celebrations of LGBT history month.
John starts the podcast by speaking to Leeds Beckett’s Equality & Diversity Manager Katrina Tilbrook about issues around sexual identity and gender identity.
He then talks to Jude Woods, the curator of the Leeds Queer Stories project, a display of local LGBT*Q history co-curated with local LGBT*Q communities running at Leeds City Museum, running until May 2016.
Marvina Newton, founder and CEO of Angel of Youths, a charity helping young people from deprived backgrounds to work towards their career aspirations, speaks to John about her work in the city with young people.
John then talks to Karen Carney, a librarian from Leeds Beckett about her work with our University’s Rainbow Rose forum, before catching up with PhD student and staff member Kit Heyam about his research into Edward II.
The monthly Lunchtime Walk and Talk podcast sees John Hamilton, Head of Safety, Health & Wellbeing at Leeds Beckett, in conversation with experts from our University and beyond, as they take part in the University’s regular lunchtime walks.
The Leeds Beckett Lunchtime Walking Club launched in March; walks take place on a weekly basis, at City Campus on Tuesdays and Headingley Campus on Thursdays.
Each walk is around 40 minutes in duration and between 2 and 3 miles in length with a variety of routes from both campuses so suitable for all abilities.
