Leeds Beckett staff team to take on 170 mile memorial cycle ride
The eight current and former Leeds Beckett staff members taking part are: Steve Makin, Pam Cresswell, Louise Dawson and Lee Bradford in Registry, Graham Haines, who worked in Registry before his retirement, Dave Prince in the Sustainability team, Shawn McHugh in Campus Services and Louise Ross, a former volunteer at Leeds Beckett’s Bike Hub, who will all be raising money for two Leeds-based charities: mental health charity ‘Leeds Mind’ and ‘Cloth Cat,’ a charity that uses music training to help locals improve the quality of their lives.
Embarking on the challenge in Morecambe on Friday 14 July, the team hope to have completed the coast-to-coast cycle by Sunday 16 July, where it culminates in Bridlington.
Team member, Dave Prince, said: “Some of us are regular long distance cyclists, but there are a few of us who are slightly more terrified by the scale of the endeavour.
“We are keen to celebrate Chris's life and his love for cycling, as well as to raise as much money as possible for a couple of charities that we feel Chris would be very supportive of.”
