Breakfast events to share digital expertise
The University Business Centre, Leeds Digital Hub, was set up as a joint initiative to deliver business support to ambitious high growth digital and tech companies looking to base themselves in Leeds. The Hub offers prestigious private office and co-working space in a modern knowledge exchange environment.
The Leeds Digital Hub breakfasts will take place every second Wednesday from 9.30-11.30am. The next one is on Wednesday 12 July at the Yorkshire Post on Whitehall Road.
At the first of the series of events, Mark Casci, Business Editor at the Yorkshire Post, shared his top journalism tips for creating engaging content and talked about the importance of being truthful, proactive, using the right language and putting across your side of the story. He also emphasised the importance of strong brand reputation.
Mark encouraged any business taking an innovative approach to write press releases to help to promote themselves. He also highlighted the importance of a strong social media presence for building your own personal brand and strong visual content to engage audiences.
Speaking about the way that universities can help to support SMEs, he said: “A hotbed of entrepreneurialism has emerged from university business centres, incubators and business competitions. The Leeds Victoria Business Boost competition, that Leeds Beckett delivered in partnership with Hammerson and the Yorkshire Post, is a prime example of a way for entrepreneurs to access support and make themselves known.”
Following the talk, delegates were given a tour of the Leeds Digital Hub.
The Leeds Digital Hub is currently looking for innovative digital and tech business owners who might wish to speak at the events about topics such as: top tips for success, digital marketing, agile technology, running a digital business in a fast changing digital world and more.
