Walk & Talk podcast at Leeds Pride
On Sunday 7 August, Leeds Beckett staff and students marched with pride through the streets of Leeds and Becky Wride was on hand to capture their thoughts and experiences of the annual Pride event.
As active champions of Stonewalls’ Diversity Programme and currently ranked 64th out of 100 British employers in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index, Leeds Beckett was once again delighted to be supporting the event.
In the fourth episode of this series, John caught up with Dr Ian Richards and Dr Andi Drake to discuss the resurgence of race walking in the UK and look at the role of coaching and sport science in the development of athletes.
In the third episode of the second series in June, John spoke to Val Hewison, chief executive of Carers Leeds as they explored issues including carers and the workplace, the contribution that carers make to society and the health and wellbeing of their loved ones, as well as the joined-up, strategic approach Leeds is taking to help carers care.
In the second episode Craig Worrall, the founder of Edible Leeds, joined John Hamilton as they discussed foraging and the abundance of wild foods on a walk from Leeds Beckett’s Headingley Campus.
The first episode of the second series of the Walk & Talk podcast focused on LGBTQ issues as part of Leeds Beckett’s celebrations of LGBT history month. John was joined by Leeds Beckett’s Equality & Diversity Manager Katrina Tilbrook, Jude Woods, the curator of the Leeds Queer Stories project, Karen Carney, a Leeds Beckett librarian, and PhD student and staff member Kit Heyam talked about her research into Edward II.
The monthly Lunchtime Walk and Talk podcast sees John Hamilton, Head of Safety, Health & Wellbeing at Leeds Beckett, in conversation with experts from our University and beyond, as they take part in the University’s regular lunchtime walks.
The Leeds Beckett Lunchtime Walking Club was launched in March 2014; walks take place on a weekly basis, at City Campus on Tuesdays and Headingley Campus on Thursdays.
Each walk is around 40 minutes in duration and between two and three miles in length with a variety of routes from both campuses so suitable for all abilities.
