Be your own boss with our Business Basics workshop
1 October 2018
Thinking about starting up your own business, becoming self-employed or going freelance? Come along to the free Business Basics workshop on 28 November to help you on your way.
Trainers from Leeds Beckett’s University Business Centres will lead the session – on Wednesday 28 November, from 9.30am to 12.30pm, in room 103, Broadcasting Place, City Campus – sharing the key things you need to know to get started on your own.
From research and marketing to legal set-up and financial planning, expert help and advice will help you turn your ideas into reality. Guest speakers will include Lupton Fawcett solicitors, Yorkshire Bank and WGN Accountants.
The free workshop is open to all Leeds Beckett students, graduates and anyone who is thinking about starting up a business, becoming self-employed or working freelance.
Kirstie Frenneaux, University Business Centre Manager at Leeds Beckett, explained: “Increasing numbers of students are looking at self-employment as a future career option but for many the process of starting-up can seem complex and daunting.
“Our workshop aims to provide you with a simple guide covering everything from the legal aspects of starting up - such as tax and company formation - through to practical tips on how to launch your product or service into the marketplace.”
Leeds Beckett students and recent graduates can also join one of the University Business Centres in Leeds, Wakefield or Halifax and access hot desks, mentoring and training free of charge for three months. Find out more here.
The Business Basics workshop is supported by Leeds Beckett partners, Lupton Fawcett and WGN, and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) AD:VENTURE programme, which provides business support and expertise to young businesses with an ambition to grow.
