Leeds Beckett Professor to speak at Australian education research conference
Lori Beckett, Professor of Teacher Education in the Carnegie School of Education, will open the launch event on Tuesday 29 November at her alma mater, Deakin University, in Melbourne, Australia, for an impressive series of 17 new books produced via Deakin University’s School of Education ‘Research for Educational Impact’ (REDI) Centre.
Professor Beckett will address the audience with a talk on the Global Education Reform Movement, drawing on her PhD research into the introduction of Thatcherism into New South Wales’s education system and her participation in the British Educational Research Association (BERA) Commission on Poverty and Policy Advocacy as an academic partner in a network of disadvantaged schools in the north of England.
The REDI book series spans topics including middle-class school choice in urban spaces, inclusive education, educational leadership, international student connectedness, and the policy and practice in science, technology, engineering and mathematics across the world.
The event will be attended by the books’ publishers, authors and senior management of Deakin University.
