Partnership to offer accredited health and social care courses

Leeds Beckett has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Essential Training Solutions to offer training and continuing professional development opportunities from short courses through to industry recognised qualifications.

For both Leeds Beckett University and Essential Training Solutions embedded within this relationship is a core value of improving standards of health and social care. The primary objective of this partnership is to deliver high quality education and training to the health and social care sector.

Leeds Beckett University will exclusively be the higher education provider for Essential Training Solutions and in working collaboratively will provide access to professional development opportunities at all levels to enhance and up-skill this workforce. The partnership will provide a complete educational offering from high quality training days, accredited courses up to degree level programmes.

Essential Training Solutions will deliver NVQ qualifications in health and social care and Leeds Beckett will deliver non-accredited and accredited study days.  Leeds Beckett will also be launching a new Institute of Leadership and Management programme specifically for this sector; ILM level 5 accredited, The Effective Health and Social Care Manger. The concept is to provide a coherent pathway for all learners to develop within the health and social care sector.

All the training will be delivered at the Essential Training Solutions site and will be continually developed. Courses will be added and accredited according to workforce demand and requirement. This relationship allows us to be flexible and responsive to health and social care employer needs and offer bespoke courses upon request. 

These courses are open to those who are starting a career in the health and care sectors, and for those established health and care professionals who want to improve their knowledge and skills.

Speaking about the partnership, which was launched at an event at Essential Training Solutions headquarters in Birstall, Professor Ieuan Ellis Dean of the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences and Pro Vice Chancellor at Leeds Beckett, said:  “This new partnership with Essential Training Solutions combines their wealth of industry experience working with health and care sector employers, with our academic and professional expertise in education, training and applied research in health and care. This allows us to develop and deliver high quality, evidence-based education and training solutions that are bespoke to employer needs, to ensure safe and high quality health and care.”
