Paul Gately, Professor of Obesity and Exercise, and Pinki Sahota, Professor of Nutrition and Childhood Obesity, are joining with health professionals, charities, policymakers, business leaders and other academics at the Childhood Obesity Summit at The Royal Society in London.
Professor Gately will act as chair at the summit as well as delivering a lecture on how childhood obesity is best tackled through a Whole Systems Approach and taking part in a panel debate on the topic.

Professor Sahota will chair a panel debate which will explore whether the plan is sufficient to see a reduction in childhood obesity – and what more needs to be done.

Speaking ahead of the event, Professor Gately said: “I hope that the summit will lead to a greater consensus on next steps and lead to these different sectors working together to build upon the plans outlined by the government.”
