On the 27th you can watch the Games Society teams battle it out over League of Legends (3-5pm) and Overwatch (5-7pm). On the 28th it’s your turn to compete in the public event, choose between Super Smash Bros (3-5pm) Mario Kart (5-6pm) or Street Fighter (6-7pm) and be in with the chance of winning prizes.
Che John, Course Director of Games Design at Leeds Beckett, said: “This is a great opportunity for our students to get involved in the Leeds Digital Festival.
“The students have been preparing for this for several weeks and we hope it will raise the profile of the sorts of opportunities students have as part of the Gaming Society and while studying on our Games Design course.”

Tumblrweed
Two of our senior lecturers from the School of Art, Architecture and Design, Jonathan Briggs and Benjamin Hall have created a real-time digital collage – Tumblrweed. They are challenging the bias of the social media ‘filter bubble’ with a virtual experience that will leave the filter to chance with any text, image and video data that is at hand. Come along to the Corn Exchange, Friday 20 April-Monday 23 April between 5-9pm.
CuratorSpace
Leeds Big Screen is collaborating with CuratorSpace to present an ongoing digital art exhibition throughout the festival. This will showcase screen-based artists who are working on a variety of projects in writing, film and performance. The line-up includes; a self- taught filmmaker, a veteran indie game developer and a documentary photographer. You can watch this on the big screen between 8-9am, 12-1pm, 5-6pm, 8-9pm and 10-11pm.
TechEdge 2018
TechEdge is the first and largest conference of its kind to come to the North UK tech hub of Leeds and we’ll be streaming it live on the big screen! Speakers from the BBC and Sky Betting & Gaming are among the international tech companies that will be sharing their approaches to developing and operating large scale websites and applications. It is an informative programme with over 500 people expected to attend. Watch it on Leeds Big Screen, Tuesday 24 April, 9am-5pm.
