The awards recognise school staff who inspire and make a real difference to the lives of North Yorkshire’s children and young people, aiming to celebrate good practice and raise the profile of teaching
Samuel said: “It is a privilege to be granted this accolade. I work with many wonderful students and colleagues who have contributed to my success.
“I would like to extend my thanks to the senior leaders at my school for nominating me for this award and enabling me to thrive as a teacher.
“I am proud to have a formal association with the Carnegie School of Education at Leeds Beckett University.
“My research with Professor Jonathan Glazzard contributes to the advancement of inclusion within schools.
“Our books, blogs and journal articles illuminate issues associated with mental health, sexual orientation and gender identity in children and young people and this work has enabled me to contribute on a wider scale to practice in schools.
“I am particularly delighted to have secured a prestigious doctoral scholarship at Leeds Beckett University which will enable me to explore the role of schools in advancing LGBTQ+ inclusion.”
