Marking Armistice Day
Poppy field
At 11:00 on Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November 2020, across the country millions of people will stop what they are doing and hold a two minutes silence in the annual act of remembrance.
We will remember all those who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars and in armed conflicts since 1945, including the 129 ‘men of this College’ named on the War Memorial in the James Graham Building at Headingley Campus.
This year, because of the global pandemic, the day will be very different. Many events have been cancelled and many more have been adjusted to comply with guidance for keeping people safe from the COVID-19 virus.
It will not be possible this year to have our Remembrance event on campus so we will be holding it online instead.
The Facebook Live will begin at 10.45 on 11 November which will include the observance of two minutes’ silence at 11:00.
To take part please visit https://www.facebook.com/leedsmethodistchaplain
If you are not able to join this live event, please do try to pause wherever you are and whatever you are doing to keep silence for two minutes at 11:00. The event will remain available on the Chaplain’s Facebook page to watch later.
