Leeds Beckett’s International Montessori Institute CPD offer for teachers and practitioners
The three seminars include ‘An introduction to the Montessori Method’, ‘Montessori Literacy ‘and ‘Montessori Numeracy’. During each session there will be the opportunity to ask questions to the Institute team about the content of the films, and to explore how the approaches we discuss could be applied within the context of your own setting.
James Archer, the Director of the International Montessori Institute, said of the twilight sessions:
“These sessions provide a valuable opportunity for teachers in both Primary and Early Years to not just learn more about the Montessori approach, but also to reflect on how their own practice could develop with an understanding of the Montessori principles. I am excited that we are able to support the professional development of the workforce in this way and bring a greater awareness of Montessori education to the mainstream.”
There will be a special guest practitioner joining the International Montessori Institute team for each twilight session, bringing fresh perspectives and helping re-imagine the possibilities available within education. There will be no suggestion of what teachers should do, but rather an exploration of what it is possible to do to best meet the needs of children in teacher’s care.
Continuing Leeds Beckett’s innovative work in teacher development, these sessions will bring together experts in the Montessori approach and primary education to explore new solutions to issues that arise in classrooms. For progressive practitioners this will provide a chance to reflect on their own practice.
Rachel C Boyle, Head of Interdisciplinary Studies at Leeds Beckett believes that:
“These twilight sessions provide an amazing opportunity for teachers and practitioners to find out how the Montessori approach can support all children in their learning. We are pleased to be able to provide a valuable opportunity for practitioners to reflect on practice.”
Following the first twilight session one of the attendees said:
“Thank you for the informative and inspiring introduction to the Montessori Method. The speakers were engaging, knowledgeable and friendly. I am very excited for the next one!”
The next two sessions are scheduled for:
Wednesday 21st April at 16:30
Wednesday 19th May at 16:30
