Leeds Beckett University to reward outstanding individuals with Honorary Doctorates
Honorary Graduates 2022: Fabian Wagner, Jason Pitter QC, Ed Anderson CBE, Michelle Carney
These ceremonies include students from the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022, making it the biggest year yet for the university’s graduation celebrations, with almost 10,000 students in attendance.
- Fabian Wagner, internationally renowned Game of Thrones cinematographer, will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate on Friday 15 July. Fabian graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2003 with an MA in Film & Moving Image Production from the Northern Film School.
- Jason Pitter QC, a Bencher at Gray’s Inn, London and a member of the Bar Council’s Equality and Diversity Committee, will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate on Tuesday 19 July in recognition of his service to public life.
- Michelle Carney, the former CEO of Special Olympics Great Britain, will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate on Wednesday 20 July. Michelle studied Leisure Studies BA Hons at Leeds Metropolitan University from 1991 to 1994.
- Ed Anderson CBE, the current Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate on Friday 22 July. Ed completed a London University external degree in Economics 1969-1973 at Leeds Polytechnic and served as President of the Students' Union.
Professor Peter Slee, Leeds Beckett University Vice Chancellor, said: “On behalf of everyone at Leeds Beckett University, I would like to congratulate these inspirational individuals.
“I am pleased that we are able to recognise their array of accomplishments which have resulted in local, national and global change. I am sure their diverse successes will inspire this year’s graduating students.”
