Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Celebrate Varsity 2024 - get your tickets and free junior sports taster session

Varsity 2024 takes place next week (Monday 22 April to Wednesday 24 April). You can get involved by supporting our teams as they take on University of Leeds in 60 sports, and by taking part in some free taster sessions at the Carnegie Junior Sports Academy this Saturday (20 April).

Varsity Rugby Union Finale, Wednesday 24th April Headingley Stadium

Experience a night of top-class university rugby in front of a 7000 strong crowd in a world-famous stadium!

Women’s Kick Off 5.15pm Men’s Kick Off 7.15pm

Staff can purchase a ticket for the double header rugby fixture for a discounted price of £5 (standard price is £15). Please note these tickets are for staff only and will be allocated in a separate stand to student tickets. Please bring your staff ID with you to the game to guarantee entry to the stand.

Enjoy a free taster session at the Junior Academy

Leeds Becket University is offering the local community free sessions at the Carnegie Junior Sports Academy, Headingley Campus, on Saturday 20 April. There’s a wide range of sports available:

Squash

10-11:00 - Junior squash ages 8-11 or beginners
11-12:00 - Junior squash ages 12 and above
12-13:00 - Open family Squash

Athletics

11-12:00 - Junior Athletics ages 8-10
12-13:15 - Junior Athletics ages 11-13
1:15-14:45 - Junior Athletics ages 14+
12:30-14:30 - Open family athletics

American Football

10:30-12:00 - Junior American Football- Contact session- Under 16’s (must be 14+)
11-12:30 - Junior American Football- Flag session- Under 14’s and 11’s (must be age 8 or above)
