Prep for Paris: Calli Hauger-Thackery

Calli Hauger-Thackery running on a treadmill

Yes, so I'm here for a full profile today. Basically, I got my bloods done first, I'm just getting some like female blood work testing. It just be really useful to know where my hormones are at and all of that going into Paris.

I'm also going to go on the heat chamber because in Paris, it's looking like it could be hot in August. You just never know, so I just want to be prepared for the worst in terms of like heat acclamation, so we'll be going on the heat chamber today for 75 minutes on the treadmill which is going to be set to like 34 degrees, so it's going to be a warm one. Also after that, I'm going to be seeing the physio I work with, and then also after that, I'll be going and do some strength and conditioning as well.

This hub is amazing. It's got everything we need like in terms of like an incredible track, incredible support with coaches, and then also like the physios. You've got everything here, like you got nutritionists, psychologists, strength and conditioning coaches. So, yeah, I feel like it's all in one hub which is amazing for someone like me to come here and just get everything I need basically, yeah.

It's going to be historical, this race I think, which is amazing to be a part of. It's not your classic, like, it's not loops or it's not, you know, it's one big loop around Paris. Yeah, it's very, very hilly. There's one hill what's 13% in gradient, so I've just got to be prepared for that, and yeah it's been... it's been a lot obviously doing all the little things like the hill work, often and the long runs, just making sure I'm always, like, getting those hills conditioning my legs to the downs as well, not just the ups but the downs because there some steep, steep downhills.

I do feel like I've got a lot more to give which is exciting, and I just hope to go as close as that British record as I can one day. Yeah, it might take a year, two years, three years but I'm going to keep at it, and I can't wait to see, like, where else this distance takes me now.
