Dr Bob Muir (Carnegie School of Sport) and Dr Andrew Mark Gillott (University of Stirling) partnered with Laurie Marsden from UK Sport to facilitate the launch of the Supporting Coaching in High Performance Sport (SCiHPS) programme.
Held at the Manchester Art Gallery, the event brought together twenty-two experienced professionals from a wide range of sports. Including senior figures from UK Sport, GB Boxing, British Gymnastics, British Sailing, British Cycling, the ECB, and other national governing bodies and institutes.
This gathering marked the start of a collaborative two-year journey focused on learning, development, ethical and effective practice in high-performance sport.
The SCiHPS programme forms a central part of UK Sport’s strategy to elevate coaching across the British Olympic and Paralympic community. Now in its fourth iteration, this pioneering professional learning initiative - first delivered by Andrew and Bob in 2021 - continues to evolve, helping practitioners deepen their knowledge, refine their skills, and broaden their experience in support of world-class coaching through to the Milan-Cortina 2026 and LA 2028 Games.
Reflecting on the programme, Dr Bob Muir said: "It's a privilege to contribute to this remarkable learning and development initiative once again and to collaborate with an equally outstanding group of leading practitioners.
"For Andrew and I, this is also an opportunity to build on the work we've done over the past 12 years and to further refine our approaches to professional learning in high-performance sport."
