Carnegie American Football star representing Great Britain
Carnegie’s talented defensive back was part of GB’s opening match against hosts Finland and is expected to play in their next match against France on Tuesday.
Sheldon was an integral part of Carnegie’s 2016-17 championship winning season in the BUCS Division One league and had another successful season in the BUCS Premiership last campaign.
Sheldon believes he owes a lot of his success in Football to Leeds Beckett University, in particular the support he’s had from his coaches and teammates.
“The tireless effort from the coaching staff, motivational words from my fellow team mate and the support from my family, friends and Beckett Alumni has helped me get to this point of my career and encourages me to do better.” he said
Carnegie American Football’s head coach Dale Bottomley says he is delighted to see Sheldon get recognised by Great Britain.
“'It's great to see Sheldon get selected for the GB Lions after working so hard over the past few months.
“Everyone involved with Leeds Beckett American football is fully behind him,
“We look forward to hearing all about his experience when he returns to Beckett to help coach our Camp Carnegie junior sports camps and to see him pass on his experiences and knowledge to the next generation of young players.”
Best of luck Sheldon for the European Championships from everybody here at Leeds Beckett.
