Cecily's collaborative creations set to be online hit
Cecily Fearnley, who graduated in 2008, created the company from her home in Whitby in 2009 by asking Facebook users what sorts of products, smells and ingredients they liked, getting them to test the products and finally using the site to recruit staff including a web designer and illustrator.
Cecily said: "I hope that by creating collaborative online networks with my customers, I can make the brand interactive and exciting. I also want to de-mystify natural skincare by educating and informing customers about what they are putting on to their skin. Each product has been born from a suggestion, whether it is to include a certain ingredient, have a particular smell, or help a specific complaint, and this makes the Sweet Cecily's product range completely unique within the current skincare market.
"By studying Law at university, I set myself up with all the skills to understand the legalities of running a business. Whilst at Leeds Met I studied Employment Law, Consumer Law and Copyright Law(amongst everything else) which have all been very useful, and I also have the ability to read and understand the legal information I now come across, such as product regulations."
Sweet Cecily's focus on natural skincare products and aim to provide a personal touch. Cecily has created a range of unusual flavours and formulations such as her mojito-flavoured lip balm, which have been largely generated by the suggestions made in forums on Twitter and- Facebook.
