Agonising Northern Conference Cup defeats for Women's Hockey 3rd's and Badminton's Men
There were agonising defeats for Hockey's Women's 3rd team and Men's Badminton 1st's in Manchester - both overcoming adversity.
In the Hockey, Beckett's women competed admirably against rivals University of Leeds after winning their semi-final the night before their big final match. Beckett displayed a never say die attitude which saw them level 1-1 at full time, but the ladies succumb to a 4-1 lose on flicks to narrowly miss out on winning the cup.
Meanwhile, Beckett's Badminton looked to be down and out when they went 4-0 down to Liverpool in their final, but a late surge from Beckett saw the true heart and desire of the men who managed to claw back the contest to 4-3 setting up a nervy finish for both teams. It was too little too late, however, for Beckett who left themselves too much work to do, losing out agonisingly 5-3 in a heroic effort.
Beckett's cup runs continue
