Sporting and international higher education opportunities to be showcased
The conference, which is sponsored by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and is open to all academics working in related fields in higher education, will run from 10am-5pm on Thursday 18 July at the University's Headingley Campus.
The day is intended to raise awareness of the options open to staff and students in higher education looking to explore knowledge of overseas countries or working abroad as part of their degree or employment.
Kevin Hylton, Professor of Equality and Diversity in Sport, Leisure and Education at Leeds Met, who will open the programme, commented: "What this event helps to crystallise is that the offer from higher education can be even more exciting, productive and international for staff and students."
The programme will include a session about staff and student opportunities in Europe by UK Bologna Expert, Simon Sweeney from the University of York, while Malcolm Brown MBE, Leeds Met's former head of University Sport and British Triathlon Olympic Performance Manager, will be joined by Dr Ian Richards, a Senior Lecturer at Leeds Met, in a talk about using sport to develop strategic university partnerships.
Professor Hylton said the day would be of particular interest to heads of university international offices; representatives from university mobility units; widening-participant representatives and academics at institutions working in the same field and interested in developing their programmes.
The event will close with a wine reception.
