Step into the NHS event

We attended the Step into the NHS with Bradford District Care Trust on the 4th of March. This was a collaborative event with representation from a variety of services and teams across clinical and non-clinical areas as well as universities for nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, medicine and speech and language services (amongst many others).

We represented the School of Health from Nursing, Physiotherapy and Dietetics. We were offering advice and guidance at our stand and our student representatives Lauren St Matthew-Daniel, from Dietetics and Freya Lyons from Physiotherapy were running a Q&A session on stage. We were all well visited by people wanting information and guidance to studies at LBU.

Thanks goes to Yvonne Raynor at Leeds Beckett, for organising it so well for us and to Bradford District Care Trust for organising the event. Hopefully, we will see many of our visitors as students in the near future.

Applicant Day

On the 18th of March we welcomed Nursing applicants and guests to our taster sessions in the clinical skills suite. We have applicants from near and far and we invite them all to attend the university to get a sense of what student life is like and what they would experience in our modern learning facilities.

Our dedicated nursing lecturers offered four workshops, running both morning and afternoon – The Spaghetti and marshmallows teambuilding exercise, an acute care practical session in the simulation ward, a taster lecture focusing on promoting health and wellbeing and finally a mini-nursing assessment using our digital mannequins.
