HEART (Humanity, Empathy, Action, Research, and Transformation)

This research cluster champions compassionate change, aligning with values of inclusiveness, integrity, and purposefulness.

Focusing on societal challenges, it addresses trauma, exclusion, and marginalisation through a range of ethical, discursive, and participant-centred methodologies. It highlights the emotional impact on researchers, critiques dehumanising criminal justice practices, and advocates for dignity-driven reforms. By amplifying silenced voices, fostering collegial support, and promoting structural change, the cluster aims to humanise systems and empower those most affected. Emphasis is placed on amplifying the voices of those who are often silenced and fostering scholarly environments that encourage collegiality, support, and the courage to push boundaries.
