Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) training videos
Our PPIE training videos are designed for members of the public, researchers and practitioners, and aim to increase awareness of PPIE and research, and how and why good PPIE is important.
This project is important in helping more researchers, practitioners and members of the public to:
- Understand what PPIE is, and how to undertake it effectively
- What research is and how PPIE members can get involved
- Understand the importance of PPIE in research
Our PPIE training videos are designed for members of the public, researchers and practitioners, and aim to increase awareness of PPIE and research, and how and why good PPIE is important.
Our goal was to create engaging, informative content about 'What is PPIE?' over three videos that covered:
- What is PPIE? and how to undertake effective PPIE
- The research process
- Types of PPIE involvement
We offer suggestions of best practices for fostering inclusive and impactful partnerships, which we hope will strengthen co-production and dissemination among communities
We hope the training videos will help to boost PPIE activities within research and knowledge exchange projects, both internally across the university, and among our wider external partners. The videos aim to help make the research process more accessible to the public, encouraging wider, and more inclusive engagement within research. This will also help strengthen future research and knowledge exchange activity, and further strengthen our institutional reputation as leaders in PPIE.
PPIE Training videos
It is a privilege as a researcher to hear people's stories and be inspired to make a change. Involving people with lived experiences is central to everything we do as researchers. It is important that diverse voices are heard, so that we are well-informed and can work co-design and co-deliver research projects with members of the public.
Good PPIE is a critical to every stage of the research process. It helps us to ensure the research we do is tailored to meet the needs of the populations we serve. As such, the voice of lived experience underpins everything we do in the Obesity Institute, and it is therefore something I am hugely passionate about.
