Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Futures and Foresight isn't about crystal ball predictions; it's a dynamic exploration of what could be, drawing upon a rich tapestry of methods and techniques to envision possible, plausible, and preferable futures. It's about arming ourselves with insights to fuel strategic decision-making, propelling us towards our desired destinies and take ownership for our decision and action.
But here's the twist:

This journey isn't a one-time affair. It's a continuous voyage, a commitment to ongoing growth and adaptation. And that's where Virtual Action Learning (VAL) comes in.

With VAL, we transcend geographical boundaries, harnessing the power of social media technology to connect minds from every corner of the globe. Imagine engaging in lively discussions and collaborative brainstorming sessions, all from the comfort of your own digital space. This means we can offer an ongoing learning process using social media technology such as Skype, MS Teams, Zoom or other media to groups who are located anywhere in the World.

Our approach is dynamic and inclusive, catering to groups of four to eight individuals eager to dive deep into the world of futures thinking. Whether you're a budding entrepreneur or a seasoned industry leader, there's a place for you in our virtual community.

Join us on this exhilarating journey of discovery and transformation. Together, let's shape a future that's bold, innovative, and brimming with endless possibilities. It's time to act - and the time is now.

At the first meeting, for one hour, the key themes for the future – up to five years ahead – will be considered, leading to setting a futures questions for further deliberation and action in terms of revealing key patterns and trends. A cloud-based support area containing key material will be provided.
Over the next 10 weeks, the group will convene again every two weeks via social media to review actions taken so that learning can be articulated and lessons for the present strategy and decision making can be considered. This pattern of working with futures and foresight to find actions for the present is key feature of its value.
We will deepen the process as we continue to consider surprise issues and those issues considered very unlikely but still possible, such as further epidemics and geo-political-climatic consequences.
The group will review progress and determine how their work needs to be disseminated and impact on decision-making.
