I was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire; famous for its mediaeval Piece Hall, Square Chapel, and Wainhouse Tower. I am a second-year architectural technologist at Leeds Beckett University. My passion involves being creative, resilient, and ambitious with each assignment presented to me, having established an early interest in architectural frameworks and ideas.Growing up in the United Kingdom and having a cultural background from Pakistan, I was always in awe of the architectural legacy that I was so privileged to be a part of and observe. As a result, following graduation, the objective is to become a chartered member of CIAT.
I have always been a student who was more interested in creative art classes in school. As a result of these decisions, I have been able to explore a prospective career route in architecture. Initially, I chose an architecture degree, but quickly realised that it could not completely leverage my creative technical capabilities, so I changed to architectural technology.
Zaha Hadid's designs piqued my curiosity, particularly the elaborate forms and structural frame works. Therefore, this degree allows me to fully understand and explore how buildings can stand in ways that seem to defy gravity.
In a broader sense, this degree has provided me with information and allowed me to experiment with architectural and editing software. Furthermore, this course not only motivates but also inspires me, as inspiration can come from anything and everything around us, such as forms, volumes, artwork, music, and nature.
My primary activities outside of academia include composing songs, making beats, playing the piano and acoustic guitar, going to the gym, and cooking. These activities need a variety of skill sets, including patience, attention to detail, creative thinking, and the ability to discern between various tastes and scents. Attention to detail and creative thinking are important skills, particularly when understanding what the public interest is.
It is advantageous to employ such talents as an architectural technologist since future clients may demand specialised designs that necessitate outside-the-box thinking. This is where my imagination can come to life, mostly through combining old cultural themes with a modern twist, as architects are always dealing with challenges, and as some architects say, "it is a lifestyle, not a job".
