I have had a very fulfilling career to date in Project Management however I recently realised that this was not the path I wanted to go down and instead looked towards doing something which was within the construction industry and allowed me to focus on the details of a project I have a passion in and have benefited from personally. I have renovated and refurbished several properties and have gained valuable experience from doing so. Completing these projects has given me a desire to gain more knowledge and understanding of buildings, their design and structure and has encouraged me to follow a degree path as a mature student. The BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology course and the subsequent career path encompasses all of this and more.

I am currently in my second year and am continuing to develop my software skills in Autodesk Revit, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and other industry standard software. Modules I have covered are Building Science and Services, Material Science and Structures, Law in the built environment and an Introduction to Construction Technology at level 4, along with Building Pathology, Contract Practice, Technical Design Project 2 in Level 5.

Following graduation, I hope to work in practice and become a fully Chartered Architectural Technologist (MCIAT). I would like to work in a multi-disciplinary organisation if possible, to gain experience across all disciplines as that I believe would be invaluable to my learning and understanding. I would also like to look at a Masters Degree in Historical Restoration as I love to be able to bring old buildings back to life and hate to see them fall into disrepair.
