Biography

  • B. Argentina, 1955.
  • 1980: The start of a football career playing for and later coaching Newell’s Old Boys. Managerial and coaching posts include Argentina (1998-2004) and Chile (2007-2011), including an Olympic gold medal win for Argentina in 2004 and World Cup qualification for Chile in 2010.
  • 2011 - 2013: Managed Athletic Bilbao taking them to the finals of the UEFA, Europa League, and Copa Del Rey.
  • 2014 - 2015: managed Marseilles.
  • 2016: managed Lazio (for two days)
  • 2017: managed Lille.
  • 2018 - 2022: Manager of Leeds United, wining the Championship in 2020 and leading the team back into the Premier League.

Context

Unveiled in tribute to Bielsa celebrating the 2019/20 promotion-winning season which saw the club’s return to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years. This is just one mural tribute to Bielsa in Leeds.
