Caroline Key is a senior Lecturer in nursing at Leeds Beckett University, specialising in dementia care, with interests in global mobility, knowledge exchange, and inclusive education. She is admissions tutor and recruitment lead, working in both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes.

Caroline Key is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at Leeds Beckett University, where she contributes to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. She qualified as a nurse 2003 and brings extensive clinical experience in women's health, paediatric neurology, working with children and young adults with learning disabilities, and older adult care, with a specialist focus on dementia care.

Caroline began her academic career in 2012, having qualified as a Teacher in Further and Higher Education at Stockholm University. She also holds a Certificate in Higher Education from the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, where she completed an MSc in nursing with a research focus on nurses' knowledge and perceptions of older adults' mental health in nursing homes.

Before joining higher education, Caroline held roles as an educator, speaker, and subject matter expert in health education, elderly care, and dementia, nationally and internationally. She played a key role in the development and delivery of Higher Vocational Education (HVE) programmes and has actively promoted global knowledge exchange. Her work is underpinned by the belief that understanding societal change is essential in preparing future healthcare professionals. She is a strong advocate for diversity, inclusion, and the development of cultural competence in healthcare education. Caroline has a particular interest in pedagogy and didactics, with a focus on enhancing the learner experience.

Since joining Leeds Beckett University in 2022, Caroline collaborates closely with academic colleagues to design high-quality learning materials and contributes actively to module and course development.

As recruitment lead and admissions tutor within the School of Health, Caroline works in partnership with admissions, outreach, and marketing teams to support prospective students. She is committed to widening participation and strengthening pathways between further and higher education, supporting access to nursing education. She is passionate about developing opportunities for student and teacher global mobility, fostering international collaboration, and driving research and knowledge exchange.

Caroline is proud to be part of a dynamic team of educators, researchers and practitioners committed to supporting the next generation of nursing professionals.

Outside academia, she enjoys photography, baking, countryside walks with her dog, spending time outdoors, and exploring new places through travel.
