NTF and CATE awards

The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) and the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) showcase the outstanding impact of individuals or teams who teach or support learning in UK higher education, recognising their success and providing a platform to share the learning from their practice. Claims for either category are submitted institutionally. Nominations open in October and claims must be submitted in March.

The purpose of the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) is to recognise, reward and celebrate individuals working in UK higher education who have made an outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession. The NTFS is organised and run by Advance HE. Institutions are eligible to enter up to three members of staff who teach and/or support learning in higher education.

Colleagues who have demonstrated an effective and sustained commitment to the DEAP learning and teaching community over a number of years may be invited to join the pipeline of aspiring NTFs to begin to develop a claim for a National Teacher Fellowship. The DEAP community and the ANTF network are managed and supported by the Centre for Learning and Teaching. To be nominated you must have the support of your Dean of School or Head of Service.

Full details on the NTFS can be found on the Advance HE website.

The CATE scheme is open to all Higher Education Providers (HEPs) who are members of Advance HE, across the four nations of the UK, including Further Education Colleges and independent 'alternative' providers. Each UK HEP is invited to nominate one team per year that can clearly demonstrate having an impact on teaching and learning through collaboration, with submissions due in March. To support the development of high-quality claims, Advance HE provides a comprehensive suite of resources: including detailed guidance documents, exemplars of successful submissions, and webinars. We strongly encourage all prospective applicants to take full advantage of these materials. Engaging meaningfully with these resources is essential to crafting a compelling, well-aligned claim that meets the expectations and criteria set by Advance HE.

A final institutional submission will be coordinated through CLT. To make an expression of interest in a potential nomination, please email clt@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

More details can be found on the Advance HE website.
