Dr Nidia Veitch is an Economist from the Dominican Republic with research interest in gender, labour markets and development.

Dr Nidia Veitch is an Economist from the Dominican Republic with research interest in gender, labour markets and development.

Nidia has worked in higher education for more than 20 years, teaching in different undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Economics and Business. Outside academia, she has worked for the Ministry of Finance in the Dominican Republic, as head of the Economic Analysis group, and as an analyst for the Manchester Independent Economic Review (MIER), a report aiming to provide a strategic understanding of the Manchester city region's economy to inform policy makers.

Research interests

In her research, Nidia investigates issues around the gender pay gap in the lifecycle, inequalities, education, ethnicity, and immigration. Current work is focusing on the gender differences in work commitment by occupation and the seniority gap.
