About Leona Mydlowski

Leona developed a strong interest in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice and upon leaving University secured employment on the MI6 Graduate programme and then worked as Legal Advisor advising on international criminal law matters.  Leona then moved into the Prison Service acting as legal advisor on prisoner rights matters and policy issues where she was part of the team that implemented the Sexual offending unit for high risk offenders.  Leona moved into teaching in 2007 where she worked in Further Education teaching A-level law and was eventually promoted to Head of Department before she moved into Higher Education in 2014.

Current Teaching

Leona teaches criminal law, applied criminal law, advocacy and is responsible for the mooting events within Leeds Law School.

Research Interests

Leona is undertaking a PhD entitled ‘The management of sex offenders: The role of the police’ where she is examining how the police are trained, police officers’ perceptions of this role and offenders views of the sexual offender’s management process.
