Featured 29 January 2025 Students as Co-Creators Symposium 2025: Student mattering Virtual
AuthorsMarsden P, Eastwood L

Students were given full creative control in this innovative co-creation project, which involved final-year Sports Journalism students designing a live 30-minute sports TV show from concept to broadcast. Implementing curriculum co-design, achieved through discussions between students and lecturers, and faculty-led peer assessment, encouraged deep engagement with the task and prompted clearer reflections of the challenges of group working. In this presentation, the module leaders and a student discuss how the collaboration, which involved learning to produce, script and develop a brand, all vital Journalism industry skills, led to the creation of a successful sports programme.
