Sharon joined Leeds Beckett University in 2023 and is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing. Sharon teaches across the BSc Nursing and FDsc Nursing Associate courses with a focus on health and wellbeing.

Sharon is a registered Learning Disabilities Nurse and a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting). She has 24 years experience working in community settings in the NHS and Local Authority as well as previously working at the University of Hull as a Lecturer in Learning Disabilities Nursing.

Sharon has specific interests in population health, public health nursing, health promotion and health inequalities. She is passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, and about teaching communication strategies to promote evidence based person-centred care.

Research interests

Sharon has research interests in inequalities in health and wellbeing experienced by marginalized groups within society. Sharon is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Health and Social Care exploring health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities.
