Beauty stores in Leeds

Any beauty lover appreciates a department store beauty hall crammed full of luxurious brands, and the one within Leeds’ John Lewis store does not disappoint. Located within the beautiful Victoria Gate shopping centre in Leeds, it’s just a stone’s throw away from Leeds Beckett’s City Campus. Step through the glass doors and you’ll find brands such as MAC, Urban Decay, Charlotte Tilbury and more.  As an added extra, John Lewis offers a ‘beauty studio’ service, where an impartial beauty expert allows you to play with products from every brand they sell. This means that you can be sure you’re being advised on what products are genuinely best for you. Cool, right?

Student tip: Try the beauty studio service before your next big event! You can get a free consultation, a group masterclass or a one to one makeover. The masterclass and makeover costs between £15 and £35, however the price is redeemable against products, meaning you get a makeover or makeup lesson for free!

Much like John Lewis, you'll find a plethora of make-up brand concessions at Harvey Nichols. Located on Briggate - one of the main high streets in Leeds - it's prime for some high end brands such as: Fenty Beauty, Hourglass, Chanel, Trish McEvoy, Charlotte Tilbury and more! Why not treat yourself to a pampering and then head for a bite to eat in the restaurant.

If you’ve not yet tried Kiko make-up, now is the time. This store is jam packed full of top quality make-up and other beauty goodies which are all suitable for a student budget. Their online reviews often mention how the products compare to high-end cosmetics, but without the high-end price tag. It’s definitely worth a visit the next time you’re shopping in Trinity Shopping Centre.

Student tip: If you happen to be in there when there’s a sale, you’re winning. They have been known to do a sale where you can buy 3 items and get 3 free which is perfect for you to stock up.

You may have spotted this bright and funky brand in Boots and Superdrug stores. Well, here in Leeds we’re lucky that it has its own store, nestled in the heart of Leeds Trinity Shopping Centre. Step inside and be wowed by the variety of products on offer – from bold lip paints to dreamy foundations. What’s helped NYX to become so popular is that it's budget friendly, while still providing the quality you’d expect from a high-end brand.

Student tip: At Christmas time, NYX often create advent calendars full of makeup miniatures. These can be quite expensive, but if you wait until mid-December, you can grab one really cheaply and have all new makeup without breaking the bank!

The Body Shop’s make-up and beauty range has something of a cult status, and for good reason. Their products are excellent quality, well-priced and are free from any cruelty to animals. Many items are vegan – including their range of fluffy brushes and their bestselling ‘Insta blur’ face primer. Their friendly staff in-store are always happy to help you, and they often host events from inside their shop on Briggate.
