Our partnership with Pro Coach Yorkshire Cricket is your opportunity to continue your development as a cricket player while also studying a UK Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

As a Carnegie International Cricket Academy player, you will enjoy a training programme that has been specifically designed to develop cricketers on numerous levels. We want our Carnegie International Cricket Academy players to leave us having not only marked improvements within their cricketing game but with confidence, self-awareness, a cultural experience, memories and friendships.

WHAT THE COACHING INVOLVES

  1. Our coaching team

You will receive training, constant support, mentorship and feedback from a highly qualified team of cricket coaches, with a focus on your technical, tactical, mental and physical development. No stone will be left unturned during your time at the Academy.

Coaching will be delivered to the highest professional standards and delivered by elite, ECB qualified Level 3 & 4 coaches at the home of Yorkshire Cricket. This will include guest coaches and specialist sessions from the county staff, such as former Captain and now Head Coach, Andrew Gale.

You can learn more about our coaches at the bottom of this page.

  2. What is a typical week like at the academy?

Your weekly coaching programme will usually consist of a minimum 8 hours of cricket activity and will include a strength and conditioning programming specific for your skill set.

Nutritional education as well as sports psychology seminars will ensure our offer has a holistic approach with our goal to look after the physical and mental wellbeing of the individual both on and off the field.

All cricketers will have access to video analysis to enable you to develop your game. Furthermore, the Academy will provide mentoring, support, and pastoral advice for all players, as well as Player Development Evaluations throughout the programme. We will communicate with your coaches at home to allow clear development and transparency throughout your time at the Academy.

The coaching program will not have an impact on your academic schedule. As an international student, it will be your responsibility to attend all academic lectures and maintain your grades.

  3. Will there be matches?

Of course. The Academy will provide the opportunity to play multiple competitive games in the UK, during the English cricket season starting in April, with showcase fixtures arranged against other academies to allow exposure to other Counties. We will play all formats of the game using red and white balls to allow players to experience and explore their games in full UK conditions.

In addition to this, there is the option to join the Leeds Beckett University Cricket programme, and be considered to represent our university in the British University & Colleges Sport Championship (BUCS) -  the equivalent of the NCAA in the USA.
