Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Trinity Leeds #stepintoBeckett competition

This promotion is being run by Leeds Beckett University, City Campus, Leeds, LS1 3HE.
Leeds Beckett University offer holders who post an image or video on TikTok or Twitter relating to the ‘Be Beckett Ready’ postal mailing sock competition they have received will be entered automatically into the competition in accordance with these terms and conditions.
Entry into the competition is free.
Entry into the competition is open to any undergraduate offer holder starting a course in 2021 or 2022.
By posting an image or video on TikTok or Twitter using the hashtag #stepintoBeckett you do consent that Leeds Beckett University contact you regarding the competition.
The start date for submissions is 00:01 on Monday 26 July 2021.
The end date for submissions is 23:59 on Monday 23 August 2021.
Eligibility for entry into the competition will be determined by Leeds Beckett University.
Entrants can post as many #stepintoBeckett images or videos on TikTok or Twitter as they wish. However, an entrant will only be entered once into the prize draw.
Leeds Beckett University does not accept responsibility for any entries that are not received by the closing date, whether lost, delayed, corrupted or otherwise and whether or not due to any technical difficulties or malfunctions.
The winners will be selected on Tuesday 24 August 2021 after the close of the competition. Leeds Beckett University’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Winners will be selected through a random computer-generated selection process.
The winners will be notified by Twitter or Instagram via the account they posted the #stepintoBeckett images or videos on and this will be done within seven days of the winners being selected.
If any winner does not respond within 14 days of being notified a new winner will be selected at random.
Re-selection of a winner will occur, a maximum of 3 times before Leeds Beckett University will deem the prize unclaimed.
The top prize for the first person drawn in the prize draw is £1,000 Trinity Leeds vouchers. Ten runners-up will win one of 10 £50 Trinity Leeds vouchers. No cash alternative will be offered. Leeds Beckett University reserves the right to change or withdraw the prize at any time and without notice.
Imagery and videos from the winning entries may be shared on Leeds Beckett marketing channels, online and in print.
