While it can be helpful to have a friend or family member with you, you are also welcome to attend an Open Day alone. Whether you bring someone with you or come by yourself, you’ll have plenty of support on the day.

Before the event, we’ll email you your Open Day Guide with everything you need to plan your visit, including timings for talks, tours and accommodation viewings.

You don’t need to book individual sessions, but we recommend allowing enough time to join activities related to your course or area of interest. Our staff and students will be available throughout the day to answer questions and offer advice.

Open Days are the perfect time to ask questions and get honest answers from our staff and students. You could ask about the modules you’ll study, how you’ll be taught and assessed, or what work placements are available. It’s also a great time to find out what life in Leeds is like and what support is available while you study. There are no right or wrong questions. Just focus on what matters most to you.
A.

Our on-campus Open Days run from 9am to around 3pm. You’ll receive your Open Day Guide in advance to help you plan your visit and make the most of your day.

You don’t have to go to all activities and talks related to your course, but we recommend arriving early to get familiar with our facilities and prioritise subject talks that only run once or twice during the day.

If you’re joining our Online Open Day, you can take virtual tours of our campuses and facilities and speak with staff and students between 4:30pm and 6:30pm.

A.
We recommend allowing at least a few hours to explore the campus, attend talks, and chat with staff and students. Make sure to check your Open Day Guide in advance so you can plan your visit and prioritise the sessions that matter most to you.
A.
There’s no set number of Open Days you should attend. Many students visit more than one university to compare courses, facilities and locations. Attending Open Days at your preferred universities will help you compare your options and make the right choice.
A.
You can start attending Open Days as early as Year 12 to help you explore your options and get a feel for different universities. Visiting early gives you more time to think about what matters most to you, from course content to student life, before you make your choices. Students often also visit Open Days in the autumn of Year 13 to get a final feel for their preferred universities before submitting applications.
A.
Open Days are a great way to get an overview of our courses. Even if your subject doesn’t have a specific talk, there will still be activities and dedicated academic staff available to talk about your area of interest. Please check your Open Day Guide before the event for timings and locations.

There’s no dress code at our Open Days. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable. However, here are a couple of tips:

Wear comfy shoes as you’ll do plenty of walking.

You will probably end up spending some of your day outdoors, so check the weather forecast ahead of your visit (and it never hurts to pack an umbrella!)

A.
Bring your booking confirmation, a notebook or your phone for taking notes, and a bag for any documents or freebies you might pick up, as well as any questions you’d like to ask our staff or students. Comfortable shoes are a must, as you’ll be doing plenty of walking around campus.
A.
Yes, there are plenty of options across both campuses. Head to Beckett Kitchen for freshly prepared meals or grab a coffee and snack from one of our campus coffee shops.
A.

During our Open Days, Arena Village and Marsden House (City Campus) and Carnegie Village (Headingley Campus) will be open for viewings and tours. There's no need to prebook, just pop along when convenient and explore the accommodation at your own pace.

If you're interested in any other accommodation options, you can also see the facilities and take a virtual tour on our accommodation website.

A.

If you can't attend any of our Open Day events, you can book a campus tour to visit our facilities.

Our campus tours run weekly at both City and Headingley campuses. They're not course specific, so check which campus your course is taught at before booking.

We're unable to show accommodation in person during campus tours, but you can explore our halls through virtual tours on our website.

A.

If you or any of your guests have accessibility requirements or other additional needs that may impact your ability to attend an event (for example, if you are a wheelchair user, or you require a BSL interpreter) our event booking form provides the opportunity to share details of your special requirements and any additional support / arrangements you may require. If you have already booked, please email us at AdmissionsEnquiries@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.
