Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Your questions answered.

YES - we aim to get as many people involved in tennis as we can and if you are fully committed, interested in tennis and want to learn then please sign up – you do not have to be a player to coach!

If you have a PGCE or equivalent qualification and specialise in PE, you may be able to bypass your Assistant (Level 1) and go straight onto your Instructor (Level 2) – please contact Beckett Sport Education for further details: 0113 812 3160 or email coacheducation@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

Bypassing assistant course

NO, but you will be required to obtain a letter of safe deployment. This will be discussed on day one of your course.

The Assistant (Level 1) course assessor will give you some guidance on this and information on how to prepare for your Instructor (Level 2).

YES you will need to complete an enhanced DBS BEFORE you are accepted onto the Instructor (Level 2) course.

NO – New guidelines state that you MUST have a valid DBS processed via the LTA before you are accepted onto the course. Please note that if you apply for an Instructor (Level 2) course without your DBS certificate, your application will not be accepted. DBS applications may take 3-6 weeks to process – leave plenty of time for this process.

You must hold a current LTA approved first aid qualification. Beckett Sport Education offers an appropriate six hour Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. You can find more information elsewhere on our site about first aid courses.

If you have completed a First Aid course and it is not showing in your Coach Secure Area, we will need to see evidence of the certificate. You can scan a copy of the certificate or take a clear photograph and send this to your regional team or the British Tennis Services Team at info@lta.org.uk.

As with the above answer, the Instructor (Level 2) course assessor will provide you with guidance and information on preparing for a Coach (Level 3). It is strongly recommended that you have completed coaching hours following your Instructor (Level 2) and are involved in a regular coaching programme. At Coach (Level 3), you will be required to have a coach mentor to assist you and will be required to undertake coaching projects.

There is NO minimum age but you must have completed your Instructor (Level 2) and possess a suitable LTA rating or have passed a LTA Play Test.

Assistant (Level 1) - Not required
Instructor (Level 2) - If you have a tennis rating of 7.1 or better you do not need to undertake a Readiness Test.
Coach (Level 3) - To apply for your Coach (Level 3) you must demonstrate a minimum playing standard. However, candidates who hold, or have held, an LTA rating that is 6.1 for Level 3 can bypass the Readiness Test and book directly onto the respective qualification core training.
