We're offering a limited number of coaching opportunities to students seeking hands-on experience in leading sports sessions or teams within our Athletic Union offer. The successful candidate will inspire and mentor fellow students in their athletic endeavours, nurturing a passion for sport and advocating physical wellness.

Coaching Opportunities with Beckett Sport Juniors.
Each year, we offer exciting sports coaching opportunities for Leeds Beckett students looking to develop their coaching skills through hands-on experience. These roles provide a fantastic chance to gain real-world coaching experience while working with young athletes in Beckett Sport Juniors programme.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, you must be a Leeds Beckett student with prior coaching experience or a coaching qualification (minimum Level 1 or equivalent). Available coaching opportunities cover a range of sports, including Athletics, Tennis and Squash
Coaching Tiers
Based on your qualifications and experience, you will be placed in one of three coaching tiers:
Head Coach
- Qualified to Level 2 or 3, depending on the sport.
- Experience leading sessions and managing othmerican Football.er coaches.
- Able to lead sessions and manage parent communication in the absence of the Lead Coordinator.
Lead Coach
- Must hold a Level 2 coaching qualification in one of the listed sports and have experience delivering sessions independently
- Responsible for delivering sessions and supporting the Head Coach.
Coaching Scholar
- Qualified to Level 1 or have strong knowledge of the sport.
- Must be willing to obtain a coaching qualification within the first term.
- Assists in sessions under the supervision of a Head or Lead Coach.

Sports Activators are current students at Leeds Beckett University, who have an interest in Sport or are passionate about having an active lifestyle and are enthusiastic about developing and promoting sport and its associated experience to other students.
Activators do not need to be part of a sports club, nor do they need to have played the sport to a high level, they just need to be committed and interested in the sport they are working within, have a good understanding of the rules and getting our students engaged. Students on this programme must be interested in their further professional development, career development and enhancing their CV and employability skills.
Activators are responsible for delivering our Social Sport programme. It is expected Activators will deliver a minimum of four hours per week that will include planning and leading the sessions, social media, and promotional activities.
The Sport Activator positions that we are looking for from September 2025 are:
- Football:
- Five Football officials to referee, deliver and promote the social league programme.
- One Sport Activator for Women’s social football.
- Futsal:
- One Sports Activator to deliver on the Futsal programme.
- Netball:
- Four Netball Activators/ officials to deliver and promote the social league programme.
- Volleyball:
- One Sports Activator to deliver and promote the social programme.
- Table Tennis:
- One Sports Activator to deliver and promote the social programme.
- Badminton:
- One Sports Activator to deliver and promote the social programme.
In return, Sports Activators will receive:
- Free Active Beckett membership.
- Free Beckett Sport leisurewear bundle.
- Subsidised course/event fees for relevant CPD.
- Additional Leadership training workshops where relevant.

Beckett Sport are looking for Student Marketing Ambassadors to help enhance the sporting experience at Leeds Beckett University and raise the profile of sport.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain work experience for those considering a career within sports marketing and business.
About the Role
A Student Sports Marketing Ambassador will be required to undertake a variety of tasks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting the Sports Office staff with the promotion of major Sport and Active Lifestyle events, including the annual Varsity calendar, Freshers Fair, and Beckett Sport Junior programme.
There are five roles available within Beckett Sport and your application will be considered for all five of these positions during the application process. The four programme areas include:
- Beckett Sport Juniors (x 2)
- The Beckett Sport Group exercise programme
- Athletic Union (applicant must be available on Wednesdays)
- Performance Sport
The programme will provide:
- Free Active Beckett membership (Reimbursed in term 2)
- Free Beckett Sport leisurewear bundle
- Subsidised course/event fees for relevant CPD
- Additional Leadership training workshops where relevant
The strength and conditioning coaching scholarship involves supporting the coaching team with the delivery of the strength and conditioning programme. This will consist of working with the Athletic Union focus sport teams, scholarship athletes, TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) and Athletics talent hub athletes. Additionally, the role includes supporting the delivery of the Beckett Sport Group exercise programme.
In return, Strength and Conditioning coaching scholars will receive:
- Free Active Beckett membership. (Reimbursed in Term 2)
- Free Beckett Sport leisurewear bundle.
- Subsidised course/event fees for relevant CPD.
- Regular team meetings and educational workshops to improve different areas required for the S & C programme and complement academic studies.
- Additional Leadership training workshops where relevant.
- Opportunities to earn an additional income through the delivery of the Beckett Sport Group exercise programme.
Beckett Sport Placement Programme
The Beckett Sport Placement Programme is designed to give students valuable, hands-on experience alongside their academic studies. It helps them build practical skills, gain industry insight, and develop professional connections within the sports sector.
These placements are structured to align with the placement hour requirements of degree courses, offering students the chance to apply their classroom learning in a real-world sports environment.
