At Leeds Beckett, our Badminton club offers the perfect balance of competitive and social play. Whether you're looking to represent the university on our men's or women's teams and compete against other top universities, or simply enjoy some friendly matches with friends, we've got you covered.

Our competitive teams play weekly fixtures in the BUCS leagues, with the opportunity to compete in the prestigious National Championships each year. For those seeking a more relaxed experience, we run social sport sessions three times a week—ideal for enjoying the game in a fun, informal setting surrounded by your fellow students .

What equipment will I need?

Prerequisites

The club caters for all abilities, with beginners encouraged to attend social sessions in the first instance.

Equipment

If you don't have equipment already don't worry! We can provide all of our members with badminton rackets and shuttles.

Training

Our club train four times a week with three of the sessions being part of our social sport programme. Matches take place on a Wednesday.  

Bronze club mark

The Badminton team was awarded the Bronze LBU Club Mark for 25/26

We have been supporting students to reach their potential through the scheme since 2002. Famous alumni that have benefitted from the scheme include Lucy Bronze, Alistair Brownlee, Alex Yee, Emily Scarratt, Vicky Fleetwood, Laura Weightman and Tom Bosworth.

Leeds Beckett awards a number of sports scholarships to high performing athletes each year who are committed to upholding the values of the university and willing to represent Leeds Beckett in BUCS events. Scholarships are also awarded to those who demonstrate the ability to progress and achieve high levels of success in their chosen sports.
