Netball at our university is hugely popular at both a competitive and recreational level. With weekly intramural fixtures held at the sports centre, the campus sport programme allows students to have a team made up of their friends, and compete against other student teams throughout the year.

What equipment will I need?

Due to the level of competition within the club, all trialists should have a good knowledge of the sport and previous playing experience.

All equipment is provided. Players need to bring non-marking indoor shoes for court sessions.

You can improve your netball skills and enjoy playing at a high level with other students who are likely to become friends for life.

Training schedule

Training takes place weekly on:

  • Monday: 7.30am-9am – Arena 1 (HC)
  • Monday: 6pm-9pm – Sports Hall (HC)
  • Tuesday: 7.30am-9am – Arena 1 (HC)
  • Tuesday: 7.30am-9am – Arena 1 (HC)
  • Friday: 7.30am-9am – Arena 1 (HC)

Training times may vary dependent on the team players are selected for.

Gold club mark

The netball team has been awarded the Gold LBU Club Mark for 2025/26

We have been supporting students to reach their potential through the scheme since 2002. Famous alumni that have benefitted from the scheme include Lucy Bronze, Alistair Brownlee, Alex Yee, Emily Scarratt, Vicky Fleetwood, Laura Weightman and Tom Bosworth.

Leeds Beckett awards a number of sports scholarships to high performing athletes each year who are committed to upholding the values of the university and willing to represent Leeds Beckett in BUCS events. Scholarships are also awarded to those who demonstrate the ability to progress and achieve high levels of success in their chosen sports.

Criteria

As a netball player you may be eligible for a scholarship if you meet the following criteria:

  • Home Nation Senior / Age Group International.
  • Super League squad player
  • NPL playing with 80% court time in the last three years
