We are proud to have strong connections with professional clubs, including Leeds Rhinos and other Super League teams, creating a direct pathway for our players into the professional game at various levels.
Leeds Beckett Rugby League offers a high-class coaching program, designed to elevate players' skills, understanding, and performance. Our comprehensive approach ensures that each athlete receives personalised attention and development, from fundamental techniques to advanced strategic play.
With a mix of seasoned players and rising stars, our teams compete fiercely in BUCS competitions, reflecting our commitment to maintaining excellence on the field. Our development side provides additional opportunities for players to hone their skills in national fixtures, ensuring everyone gets the chance to grow and succeed.

Prerequisites
A good foundation of rugby is expected from all players, but the club are committed to develop players at every level of their game.

The rugby league team have been awarded the Silver LBU Club Mark for 2025/26
We have been supporting students to reach their potential through the scheme since 2002. Famous alumni that have benefitted from the scheme include Lucy Bronze, Alistair Brownlee, Alex Yee, Emily Scarratt, Vicky Fleetwood, Laura Weightman and Tom Bosworth.
Leeds Beckett awards a number of sports scholarships to high performing athletes each year who are committed to upholding the values of the university and willing to represent Leeds Beckett in BUCS events. Scholarships are also awarded to those who demonstrate the ability to progress and achieve high levels of success in their chosen sports.
Criteria
As a rugby league player you may be eligible for a scholarship if you meet the following criteria:
- Championship 1 or 2 player.
- England / GB Age Group International.
