Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

Welcome

Tchoukball is a unique (and fun!) sport to play, you don't need to be a tchoukball expert to play and we are passionate about being a very welcoming and friendly club. We don't have any requirements for you to join our club - in fact a lot of our members have never even played Tchoukball before they came to Leeds Beckett!

A number of alumni have represented Team UK at European and World Championships
In 2013 Leeds Beckett hosted the European Winner’s Cup
In 2022 Leeds Beckett hosted the European Tchoukball Championships

What equipment will I need?

You need indoor non-marking shoes, and comfortable sportswear. Kneepads will be provided for new members, but it is recommended that personal kneepads are purchased once joining the club.

Everything you need to know

Our Tchoukball club is operated in partnership with local team Leeds Tchoukball Club, with players being offered opportunities to play in the domestic National League as well as international tournaments.

Prerequisites

The club welcome beginners to the sport, with most of the current players taking up the sport whilst at University. New members are welcome all year round, with competitions running from Oct-May for those that are interested.

What is the training schedule?

Fridays: 7pm-8.30pm – Sports Hall

We have been supporting students to reach their potential through the scheme since 2002. Famous alumni that have benefitted from the scheme include Lucy Bronze, Alistair Brownlee, Alex Yee, Emily Scarratt, Vicky Fleetwood, Laura Weightman and Tom Bosworth.

Leeds Beckett awards a number of sports scholarships to high performing athletes each year who are committed to upholding the values of the university and willing to represent Leeds Beckett in BUCS events. Scholarships are also awarded to those who demonstrate the ability to progress and achieve high levels of success in their chosen sports.
