ResCycle Wrap-up and Environmental Stewardship
At the beginning of the academic year, the ResCycle team set out to inspire and support our residents in making sustainable choices—both in university accommodation and in daily living. Throughout the year, we've shared lots of useful information on a variety of topics, and we hope you've picked up some helpful insights about the environment. Most of all, we hope we've motivated you to take action and help protect our planet!
This month's blog post explores the idea of Environmental Stewardship—what it means to care for the planet and how you can continue making sustainable choices as you become part of the wider community. We're also wrapping up the year by revisiting some of the useful hints and tips we've shared along the way. We hope you'll take them with you and keep making a positive impact!
What is Environmental Stewardship?
Environmental stewardship is a term that can be used to describe the responsible use and protection of the natural environment through active participation in conservation and sustainable practises by individuals and both small and larger collective networks. In other words, we can all be a steward of the environment by making sustainable practices part of our daily routine. In doing so, we lessen the pressure we put on our environment and its resources, ultimately maintaining (or even improving!) the quality of our planet for ourselves and future generations.
Tips and Tricks to Take with You
We hope that you can take the information we’ve shared this year with you wherever you go next, and we have no plans to remove any of it from our website anytime soon! Please feel free to check back in with our newsletters and blog posts any time you like.
Here’s a wrap-up of what we’ve learnt
All the best!
Thanks for coming on this journey with us. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! We wish you the best of luck in whatever you do and wherever you go next and can’t wait to see some of you back with us next year! We leave you with this simple yet thought-provoking quote from the great David Attenborough:
‘The truth is: the natural world is changing. It is the most precious thing we have, and we need to defend it’.
Love,
