Course: BA (Hons) Primary Education (Early Years 3-7) with Recommendation for QTS

How was your Graduation Ceremony?

It was a nice day, really enjoyed it celebrating our hard work with family and friends.

What’s next for you after Graduation?

I plan to do a bit of supply work for a while and then travel and see the world. Then after I have that out of my system, I will start looking for a full-time job in teaching.

What support did you receive whilst at university?

I received a lot of support from my lecturers who were really good at advising and supporting you. Especially through placements, they stay in regular contact, ensure you are ok, and help you through them. I really enjoyed my placements, I loved all of them, they gave me confidence in the classroom and a taster to what it’s like to be a teacher. I made good connections with the schools that I was in so I can get back in touch with them when the time comes.

Why did you choose to study BA (Hons) Primary Education (Early Years 3-7) at Leeds Beckett University?

Leeds Beckett was the one that appealed to me most because it has the early years option which many other universities don’t, and it just stood out to be the one that gave me a clear route into teaching. I attended an open day and got a really good feeling meeting the lecturers and the campus is amazing so that was the main selling point really.

What was your favourite part of the course?

The placements were my favourite part of the course as they put all the theory into action and you learn so much more. You get to make really good bonds with the students and teachers they welcome you like you have been there all the time and really make you feel at home. It’s a really good insight into the future.

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of studying your course?

Go for it! It’s very hard work but the outcome is amazing and it’s so worth it in the end. It sets you up for good things and gives you a lot of experience and knowledge to step into the world of teaching the next generation.
