Taking the PGCE in Coaching and Mentoring in Education at Leeds Beckett has been such a positive experience for me, both professionally and personally. I work as an education coach in a Trust and was looking for a way to deepen my understanding of coaching and mentoring in an educational context. This course gave me just that – and so much more.
One of the things I really appreciated was how flexible the online format was. It meant I could balance my studies alongside work and my personal life without feeling overwhelmed, which made a huge difference.
The support throughout the course was brilliant. Sheila Ball was an incredibly inspiring tutor – her passion for creating thinking environments and helping people to flourish really came through in every session. I also really enjoyed learning with Professor Rachel Lofthouse; her teaching style was so accessible and grounded, making even the more complex ideas easy to engage with and apply in real-life settings.
A real highlight for me was how reflective and practical the course was. I could take what I was learning and immediately apply it to my setting, which made it all feel so relevant and worthwhile. The space to connect with other educators, share experiences, and think deeply about my own practice was invaluable.
Since finishing, I’ve stayed connected with Leeds Beckett through the CollectivED community, which has helped me to continue learning and feel part of something bigger.
Overall, I’d absolutely recommend this course to anyone in education who’s interested in coaching and mentoring – whether you're just starting out or looking to build on what you're already doing. It’s been a genuinely enriching journey.
