Tour de Yorkshire tourism research features in the June edition of Pro Cycling magazine
Research into the social impact of the 2018 and 2019 Tour de Yorkshire in Doncaster by colleagues in the School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management features in the June edition of Pro Cycling magazine.
Drawing together global research findings, the article examines the extent to which hosting prestigious cycling events such as the Tour de France, Vuelta a España and Tour de Yorkshire have positive tourism and community benefits. Evidence from Doncaster shows that the Tour de Yorkshire boosts tourism and positively affects individual wellbeing, civic pride, and community cohesion, but for legacy benefits to be achieved, holistic approaches to planning and event investment are required.
