The International Society for Professional Innovation Management call on the expertise of UKCEM students
Following the success of our partnership last year, the International Society for Professional Innovation Management (ISPIM) is again working with the UK Centre for Events Management (UKCEM).
Four final year students, Zoe Mallinder, Niamh Gilbert, Jessica Waugh, Georgia Burrows and a UKCEM graduate, Annaliese Hesketh have been invited to support and co-produce the next international ISPIM conference in December.
The conference begins a virtual journey around the world on 7th December, starting in Japan and ending on 8th December in Melbourne, Australia. The content will be broadcast live, and is likely to be the longest zoom event on record. The 24 hours of thought-provoking innovation discussions come from 21 different regions spanning 5 continents with 90+ speakers and include interviews, hosts, panel discussions, 100+ presentations with insights from industry and research and creative online networking sessions.
CEO of ISPIM Iain Bitran states “Once again we are thankful to the UKCEM students from the School of Events, Tourism & Hospitality Management for acting as session supporters for our forthcoming conference. Their main responsibilities will be to ensure that all sessions run smoothly, especially on the main stage where we will be running one continuous Zoom Meeting for 24 hours. This will involve dealing with presenters as well as controlling our global audience and contributing to and monitoring the chat facility. For the scientific sessions and workshops that will be run in parallel, and they will assist the session facilitator with presenters, technical issues and question and answer sessions in the same way as they did back in June when six UKCEM students helped out at another much larger conference.”

Dr James Musgrave
James brings extensive experience in research, consultancy, and industry engagement across sport, events, and tourism, with a particular emphasis on the role of sport within the wider visitor economy, working with organisations such as the British Standards Institution (BSI), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), and the Association of British Conference Organisers (ABPCO). His expertise centres on pro-environmental behaviour and the advancement of sustainable practices, with a strong track record of evaluating and influencing change across sport events, venues, and the wider industry. He currently serves as Head of Sport Management at the Carnegie School of Sport, where he is committed to developing resilient, innovative graduates, while also supporting the sector through advisory and board roles with organisations including the International Congress and Convention Association, Business of Events, and more recently as trustee for North Yorkshire Sport.
