Tiled background

Students across all our courses have the opportunity to connect directly with employers throughout their studies at the School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management. This gives students direct insight into what skills employers are looking for, highlights the different careers they could progress into and inspires them to achieve their ambitions. It also allows students to work on real life projects, putting their learning into practice. Obviously, none of this would be possible without the support and expertise of academic staff within the School and their industry connections.

Professor Rhodri Thomas, Dean of School, has recently written to each of these 97 employers to thank them for the contribution they have made to educating our students. Professor Thomas said “Having direct engagement with employers enriches the value of our students’ experience; they always speak positively about guest speakers, working on projects for clients and/or visiting various properties. It is not something we take for granted, so on behalf of my colleagues and our students, we would like to thank them very much indeed.”

The School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management has recently been placed in the top fifty of its type in the world and awarded a five-star rating (the highest) by the 2022 QS World Ranking of Universities. Part of the QS approach to assessment is to survey employers to find out what they think of graduating students. In vocational fields like events, tourism and hospitality management, it is important that employers make a contribution to shaping our academic outlook.
