Course: BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science
How was your Graduation Ceremony?
The day has been lovely, I feel really happy. I have had an excellent three years and feel like I am ready for the next chapter now.
What’s next for you now after Graduation?
I want to go straight into working life and progress through my career. I am still applying for jobs so hopefully, something comes up.
Why did you choose to study BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science course at Leeds Beckett?
I am pretty local to the area so during school and college, we used to come experience taster days at Leeds Beckett. During the taster days, I got to experience parts of the different courses, see the campus and meet the teachers. The BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science course really stood out to me and what we were learning really interested me, so I thought I would throw myself into the deep end and go for it. The taster days helped me make a decision and are really helpful for people like me who are unsure if university is for them or what course to study. They allow you to get a good feel for what it is like at university because it's completely different from what you imagine it to be.
What was your favourite part of your course and why?
My favourite part of the course was how interactive it was. In many seminars, you would get up and physically participate in the lessons and learn the skills rather than sitting and watching. This was really beneficial to me and helped me a lot during the course. What was your most joyful moment being a Leeds Beckett student?
Probably the social side, going out with your friends and the sports competitions with other universities. I am part of the women’s football team, which made my university experience, so definitely get involved with any societies or sports teams if you can. It’s the best feeling and you meet friends for life.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying your course?
Just throw yourself into everything and take part. Get involved in group discussions in seminars, and make sure you ask questions so you understand everything – the lecturers are there to help you and appreciate you asking questions. Join that sports team or society, go out with people even if you are at university the next day. Make friends with everyone you can, it makes it so much easier getting up on a morning to go to class when your friends are there with you. Just enjoy every part of it because it goes so fast and it’s the best three years of your life.
